Ai Scoring Engine
Date:
09 April 2020
Project name:
ApPello AI Scoring Engine System Development & Market introduction
Project description (English):
The main goal of the project is to explore new banking risk management methods and to refine mathematical models based on them to identify, measure and forecast the risks inherent in bank lending and collection, both in day-to-day banking and in extreme market conditions.
Our goal is to develop the ApPello AI Scoring Engine as part of the project, which allows us to create an “alternative” scoring engine that can predict with an immediate calculation the repayment ability of a client based on the data provided.
The research focuses on the behavioural factors, as one of the main lessons learnt after the financial crisis of 2008, is that the extreme effects and fluctuations of normal financial processes can threaten not only individual institutions but even the entire financial sector. The main reason for this is that financial institutions’ models do not adequately anticipate risks or ignore factors that could lead to liquidity shortfalls during the crisis.
Designing models aims at two tasks: 1) Setting success criteria, so that the actual failure rate given by the Scoring engine PD (probability of default) will be 25 % more accurate. 2) Subsequently, the data mining and modelling tasks performed on the provided data set should determine the relationships and behavioural patterns that will serve as the basis for the future models provided by the AI engine. As a first step, we plan to develop a predictive model based on behavioural patterns that will serve as a basis for later stages of research. Based on these results, a complex model for measuring credit risk and indicators will be developed performing beyond the current regulation (Basel III).
We also aim to provide a graphical display and analytical interface of the decision tree backed up by artificial intelligence, accelerating insight into the model for financial institution users, resulting in a rapid, informative good-will review.
The system under development is not only of interest to the Hungarian banking system, it is non-market-specific.
In the international banking sector, foreign parent banks of Hungarian banks and banks in other EU countries can also be potential buyers. Based on our international experience (6 countries, 20+ projects) there may be several departments within a bank, even independent of one another, in dire need of our solutions offered by nobody else on the market.
Corporate scoring is currently available in very few places, so there is an obvious demand for such a general, cost-efficient and labour-saving solution.
Informatív, rövid projekt tartalmi összefoglaló (HUN):
A projekt célja olyan új banki kockázatkezelési módszereken alapuló matematikai modellek kidolgozása, melyek alkalmazhatók a banki hitelkihelyezésben, behajtásban rejlő kockázatok feltárására, mérésére és előrejelzésére.
A felállított modellben számos új elemzési kör végezhető, amellyel jelentősen javulnak a kívánt eredmények.
